What to Expect from The Mazda3?
2024 Mazda3: Enthusiast Performance on a Budget
When many automotive manufacturers have more or less abandoned sedans and hatchbacks, Mazda stands out from the slog of endless cookie-cutter crossovers and SUVs. However, as these SUVs are getting larger to accommodate our population’s growing family size and waistlines, affordability becomes an issue. Knowing this, the 2024 Mazda3, which starts at $22,550 in sedan form and $25,690 in practical hatchback form, sounds increasingly like a smart buy — and it is. With exhilarating performance under the hood to put a smile on hardcore enthusiasts, excellent practicality for adventurous road-trippers, and 26/36 mpg for the most frugal penny-pinchers, the 2024 Mazda3 is quite possibly the only compact car that checks all the boxes.
So What’s New for the 2024 Mazda 3?
The 2024 Mazda3 receives welcome changes for its newest iteration. Unlike the 2023 Mazda3, the 2024 Mazda3 adds rear-cross traffic alert, rear-seat alert, and blind-spot monitoring to its standard arsenal for all trims. Turbo trims receive a larger 10.25-inch non-touch display (compare to last year’s 8.8-inch screen), wireless phone charging, and wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay. 2024 Mazda models also have access to special Zircon Sand paint in Carbon Turbo trims. Oh, and manual transmission is still an available option. Praise the petrol gods.
Grin-Inducing Performance. Excellent Efficiency.
Non-turbo trims of the Mazda3 receive a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine under the hood and deliver 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. You might be thinking “191 horsepower? Isn’t 200+ horsepower standard these days?” Sure, many cars these days put down 200+ horsepower to the wheels, but there’s one-factor people overlook; Power to weight ratio. Compact and light, the 2024 Mazda3 sits in between the Miata and CX-30 compact SUV and weighs around 3000 pounds. Due to this, acceleration is swift, and fuel economy shines at 26/36 mpg in FWD, and 26/35 mpg in AWD! The entry-level 2024 Mazda3 trims perform excellently, but the 2024 Mazda3 Turbo trims offer quite the punch. As its name implies, the 2024 Mazda3 Trims are equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder capable of 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque when using 93 0ctane fuel! Regular fuel will lower performance to 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, but it’s nice to have the option, especially for spirited driving in the twisties. Fuel economy for 2024 Mazda3 turbo trims come out to 23/32 mpg for the sedan, and 23/31 mpg for hatchback variants. Also, i-Activ AWD is standard on 2024 Mazda3 Turbo trims.
Practical and Loaded with Safety & Driver Assist
The 2024 Mazda3 is a compact vehicle, so larger crossovers and SUVs will almost always have the upper hand in this aspect. In its class, however, the Mazda3 is no slouch. In sedan form, the Mazda3 offers 13.2 cubic feet of space in the trunk, while the hatchback offers a maximum of 47.1 cubic feet of cargo space. Comparing that to the 2023 Honda Civic’s 14.1 ft³, the 2023 KIA RIO’s 13.7 ft³, and the Toyota Corolla Hatchback’s 17.8 ft³, the 2024 Mazda3, at least in its hatchback form, offers more practicality and space. Practicality doesn’t have to end with cargo space, however. The 2024 Mazda3 offers a suite of Safety and Driver Assist features known as i-Activesense. Standard and available i-Activesense features include:
- Blind Spot Monitoring
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go
- Smart Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection
- Smart Brake Support – Rear
- Smart Brake Support – Rear Crossing
- High Beam Control
- Lane Departure Warning System
- Lane-Keep Assist
- Driver-Attention Alert
- Adaptive Front-Lighting System
- Parking Sensors
- 360 View Monitor
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Interior and Convenience Features
Mazda has always managed to outfit their vehicles with high-end, luxurious interiors, even at budget prices. The 2024 Mazda3 is no exception and offers premium leather, suede, and fabrics. The dash and driver-facing elements are beautifully designed and integrated, giving a sleek luxurious vibe. The 2024 Mazda3 also comes with ample convenience features. Standard and available convenience features include:
- Power Moonroof
- Heated Seats
- Heated Steering Wheel
- Traffic Jam Assist
- 360 Degree Camera
- Automatic Climate Control
- Rain-Sensing Wipers
- Adaptive Front Lighting System
- Active Driving Display
Concluding Thoughts
Built with commuting and spirited driving in mind, the 2024 Mazda3 is one of the best looking (and performing) compact car in the current market. With a high-end interior, sleek exterior, efficient mileage, and a host of features, the 2024 Mazda is a no-brainer. We don’t have 2024 Mazda3s in stock as of yet, but we do have plenty of 2023 Mazda3 models in stock right now!
